You don’t have to look hard for the cucumber sandwiches, gin and tonics and Devonshire teas at Penang’s Eastern & Oriental Hotel. Affectionately known as the “E & O” to those in the know, it unashamedly champions the finer things of the colonial era when the hotel would have been full of foreign guests recovering from an extended sea voyage or a trip around the Far East as the region was and still is in many cases, known to the British.
